Once people learn about WTA, they realize that by using barter they can obtain goods and services from a growing network of local businesses (and are not limited to bartering with only one company). For example, a bookkeeping business can earn trade dollars doing bookkeeping work for a car repair business. The bookkeeper can then use trade dollars to purchase a gym membership; the gym owner can have new flooring installed; and the flooring company can have business cards printed. All of these transactions use trade dollars instead of cash.
When businesses use a formal bartering platform like WTA, they open up their business to potentially thousands of local, national and international businesses and potential customers.
